Partners to Create Epic Pop Culture Events
The staff of the Cincinnati Zombie Walk and the staff of the Cincinnati Comic Expo are pleased to announce a partnership between their annual events within the City of Cincinnati. Both organizations have just concluded large and successful events in 2012 and look to make things bigger and better in 2013.
It was discovered in early 2012 that both groups shared the same audiences, similar appreciation of pop culture, and looking for ways to have fun with a group of people in downtown Cincinnati. Andrew Satterfield, of the Cincinnati Comic Expo, described the introduction by saying, “In early 2012 we reached out to the organizers of the Zombie Walk, asking them to have an official presence at Cincinnati Comic Expo to promote their event. They readily accepted. Shortly thereafter we began talks of forming a partnership to help promote both events.”
Gary Faust, an organizer of the Cincinnati Zombie Walk explains, “The 2012 Cincinnati Comic Expo was great. We had fun all weekend. We noticed the same fun, colorful, creative type of people attend their event as ours. We thought of all the possibilities that a partnership would bring. It makes sense.”
As previously announced, the Cincinnati Comic Expo is being held September 13-15, 2013. The Cincinnati Zombie Walk has just announced as being held on Saturday, September 28, 2013. “We tried our best to align our dates for 2013. But due to the large number of events in downtown Cincinnati we simply could not make it work for 2013. However, we are looking forward to sharing a weekend with the Cincinnati Zombie Walk in 2014. What a great way to end a fun filled day at the Cincinnati Comic Expo,” says Satterfield.
The walk starts at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and ends at Fountain Square. It is the only zombie walk in the nation with two routes, an East Route and a West Route. An additional maybe added in the future. The Cincinnati Zombie Walk is free of charge and open to people of all ages. The organizers of the walk use the event to bolster awareness and benefit a local charitable organization. The walk has 2 collection points for participants to drop off canned food items for the Freestore Foodbank. “We want to raise awareness about hunger in the Cincinnati Community,” says Faust. The Cincinnati Zombie Walk then caps off the evening with a party on Fountain Square.
“The Cincinnati Comic Expo is always searching for strategic partnerships that bring unique experiences to the great fans of Cincinnati. We believe the Cincinnati Zombie Walk is an organization that has created a fun event that also performs an honorable service by their collection for the Freestore Foodbank,” Satterfield concludes.
Both organizations look forward to releasing more details into each event as 2013 unfolds.
